Privacy Policy
How AstroStarCheck keeps chart work local, when information leaves the browser, and how you can control optional processing.
Effective and last updated: 2026-07-27.
1. Scope and controller
This policy applies to astrostarcheck.com and the Free Astrology Analysis web application. The data controller for processing performed by this service is the operator of AstroStarCheck. Privacy enquiries and rights requests may be sent to privacy@astrostarcheck.com.
This policy describes the service's current technical behaviour. A qualified privacy lawyer should review it whenever the operator, vendors, revenue model, or data flow changes.
2. Local-first architecture
Person profiles, birth details, historical events, AI connection settings, and selected chart context are kept in persistent local storage for this website in your browser. Natal charts, transits, progressions, solar arcs, Firdaria, synastry, and backtests are calculated in a browser worker. Closing the page or browser does not delete these records. They remain until you delete them in the application or clear this website's stored data.
The service does not maintain a remote account database for these records and does not upload them merely because a chart is calculated. A small consent record is also stored locally for up to 180 days so the site can remember your privacy choices.
3. When data leaves the browser
Network transmission occurs only for the following functions:
- Site delivery and security: Cloudflare and the hosting service receive ordinary HTTP metadata such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamps, and security signals.
- Place search: the place name and interface language are sent through the site API to Open-Meteo Geocoding when you use automatic birthplace search.
- AI features: when you deliberately request an AI reading, the question, relevant birth/chart evidence, selected provider configuration, and API credential pass through the API proxy to the provider you selected. They are used to complete that request and are not stored in the site's person database. The provider may retain or use them under its own terms.
- PDF generation: report content is sent to the API when you request a server-generated PDF and is used to return the file.
- Analytics and advertising: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and configured advertising partners load only after the applicable consent. They may receive device, cookie, interaction, approximate-location, and advertising identifiers.
Do not enter another person's birth details unless you have authority to do so. Avoid identity numbers, precise home addresses, health records, and other information unnecessary for an astrology reading.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Delivering pages, preventing abuse, and maintaining security: legitimate interests and, where applicable, performance of the requested service.
- Returning place-search, AI, or PDF results that you explicitly request: performance of the requested service and your affirmative action.
- Analytics and advertising storage or access on your device: consent. These technologies remain disabled until you choose them.
- Responding to lawful requests and protecting legal rights: legal obligation or legitimate interests, as applicable.
You may refuse optional processing without losing local chart functions. Consent may be changed at any time through the "Privacy choices" control.
5. Recipients and international transfers
Possible recipients are Cloudflare and the hosting provider; Open-Meteo for place lookup; the AI provider you select; Google for consented analytics or advertising; and an advertising network whose code is enabled by the operator. These providers may process data in the United States, European Economic Area, or other countries.
Each provider acts under its own privacy terms or contractual role. Where GDPR transfer rules apply, the relevant provider is expected to rely on an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism. Review the selected AI provider's terms before sending chart material.
6. Retention
- Person records, historical events, selected-person state, and AI connection settings: in this browser until you delete them or clear the website's stored data.
- Consent choice: locally for up to 180 days, then requested again.
- Site security and access logs: retained by infrastructure providers for their documented security and operational periods.
- AI, analytics, advertising, and geocoding data: retained according to the chosen third party's policy and account settings.
AstroStarCheck does not intentionally retain AI request bodies or API keys in its application database.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, object, withdraw consent, receive portable data, opt out of sale/sharing or targeted advertising, and complain to a supervisory authority. Because profile data is held in your browser, you can inspect, edit, or delete it directly through People, or clear this website's local storage in browser settings.
AstroStarCheck does not sell personal information for money. Some advertising or analytics disclosures may be treated as "sharing" or targeted advertising under US state law. Rejecting advertising disables those disclosures. A browser Global Privacy Control signal is honoured by keeping advertising disabled.
Requests concerning server-side metadata may be sent to privacy@astrostarcheck.com. EU/EEA and UK users may also contact their local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights.
8. Security, children, and automated output
The service uses HTTPS, data minimisation, origin-scoped browser storage, sandboxed advertising frames, and restricted API routing. Persistent browser storage can be read by a person with access to your browser profile and by scripts running on this website. Clear profiles and API credentials after use on a shared device. No system can guarantee absolute security.
The service is not directed to children under 16 and must not be used to submit a child's personal data without valid parental or guardian authority. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of children under 16.
Astrology and AI outputs are informational and do not produce legal or similarly significant decisions. They should not be used as the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, employment, housing, insurance, safety, or other high-impact decisions.
9. Changes and contact
Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and, where required, a renewed consent request. Questions and rights requests: privacy@astrostarcheck.com.
